| Sprinkler Installation Flow Chart In-ground Sprinkler Systems. |
|||
| Plumbing: Whether municipal water or a well is supplying the sprinkler system, a backflow preventer needs to be installed for safety purposes and will be the first step in the installation. Master Valve: A master valve is a sylenoid (electric) valve that is installed directly after the backflow preventer. This valve keeps the live water supply right at the backflow device, and not all over the property. It opens only when the controller turns on a zone and calls for water. Manifold & Zone Valves: A manifold groups the zone valves together, which will be encased under a valve box for future accessibility. When the controller (timer) sends a signal for a zone to turn on the master valve and particular zone valve, each will open allowing water to flow through. Piping & Heads: 100 PSI rated Poly pipe is connected to each zone valve, and from the valve runs to each sprinkler head in a particular zone. A zone is a group of sprinkler heads that will run together. Zone sizing will vary from job to job and is dependent on water pressure, water supply volume, and the particular needs of the lawn or garden. Typical zone sizes, however, are usually 4-6 heads per zone. |
